New information requirements for online trade

Since February 01, 2017, new information requirements apply to online retailers. These arise from EU Regulation No. 524/2013 (ODR Regulation), which is closely related to the ADR Directive, whose implementation into German law was adopted in December 2015.

The main objective of the ODR Regulation is to establish an online dispute resolution platform (ODR platform) at EU level. The ODR platform is intended to be a point of contact for consumers and entrepreneurs who wish to settle disputes arising from online legal transactions out of court. Complaints are then to be forwarded via the platform to the national dispute resolution body responsible for the dispute in question. Offline contracts are not covered.
